About

Born in 1960, Kevin Colliss always had an interest in music. He grew up in a family that played music. His Dad and uncles on both sides of the family were musically gifted and so naturally it was passed down to him. When he was about 8, he picked up the guitar and started singing even earlier than that. As time went on, he learned to play and sing together, but did not get serious about music until he was about 27. As he grew up with country music, his early influences included Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Jim Reeves. As he developed his music tastes, he found influences in Gordon Lightfoot, Eric Clapton and many other artists of different genres. He started recording and playing a few concerts in the early 90’s. He also worked as a disc jockey, and produced a couple recording projects for others, under the business and record label he started called Jubal Studios. He also set out to produce his own album, and recorded many of the tracks for it around the same time. In 1995 he opened an HVAC business and slowly music took the backseat until it was almost non-existent in his life. But, his daughter, Lindsay, showed a love and passion for music and encouraged him to stay in it with her. This, along with much encouragement from many others, kept it in his mind. After years of running his successful heating business, he had to shut it down because it was taking a tole on his health.  After the business closed he had more time to get back into music.  With the help of his daughter, Lindsay (who graduated college with a bachelor's degree in music and recording technology in 2018), Kevin finally finish his album that was in the making for over 20 years. He released his album, Promises of Peace  in January of 2019. The album is a mix of new and old recordings and many genres and influences over the years. Kevin continued to work on his music and had plans to release a two song single in the summer of 2022. The single includes a song he wrote for his oldest daughter Amanda called Piece of my Heart, and a cover of a Hank Williams song called The Log Train. But on June 2nd 2022, Kevin passed away suddenly at 61 years of age. Lindsay did her best to continue her father's vision for the project in his absence. The single, along with a music video for "Piece of my Heart (Amanda's Song)" was release October 24 2022. Kevin has left a beautiful legacy that will live on through his loved ones and his music.
